Chapter 121

Kang Woo pressed his lips together tightly.
Alex sure wasn’t pretending.

“He really doesn’t seem to know.”

Kang Woo smiled slightly and chuckled.
The questions he had in his mind that had accumulated all this time disappeared.
A man right in his mind will seriously would not save the one who just had tried to kill him.

“And this means that…”

Alex was out of his mind right from the start.
This also explained all those unreasonable actions of his.

-I miss the Hell Teacher again… what a shame

-You know, I’m going to ask you just one question.

-Yes?

Kang Woo looked at Alex with a calm gaze.

–You’re not going to give up on Xi Hoon, are you?

-Of course not.
After all, there aren’t that many Defenders, and Xi hoon is not only a strong defender but has a lot of talent as well”, he replied firmly.
Although he might not have hesitated at such an unexpected question, in the future I will definitely change his mind.
ANd last but not least, he also seems quite interested in it.

Kang Woo was silent.

-I understand that you are worried because Si Hoon is like a brother to you.
But it’s necessary for the sake of humanity and to save people’s lives.

-“Haa,,,” Kang Woo let out a small chuckle.

The body of the dead girl was still lying their in the alleyway.
She died because he didn’t kill the mercenary, but even then, Alex kept talking about kindness and justice.
There was a sincere belief in his gaze and his voice.

-I have to go now.
Kang Woo, try to convince Si Hoon to make the right decision as well.” The man smiled warmly and turned around and left.

Kang WOo kept watching the retreating image of Alex.
He couldn’t guess how many people had gotten hurt because how out of his mind Alex was.
But there was one thing he knew for sure, this wasn’t the first time this had happened.
A man can’t just change in an instant.
Which meant Alex had been behaving this way for a long time, and now, he was at a point past saving from.
There was no salvation for him.
He could never be normal again.

“For the sake of humanity huh, that what you say?” – Kang Woo muttered.

It wasn’t that hard to guess at what point things went wrong for him.
He had behaved this way before, wanting to save all the people and to act like a hero.

“And at one point, he failed to do it”

The reason wasn’t really a lack of skill or talent, not all all.
It was just that some things are simply inevitable.
You can never escape them.

When confronted with failure, there were two ways someone like Alex could behave: either he could have accepted failure of just run away, stray off their path.
Alex simply chose the latter.

“Fucking piece of shit” Kang Woo said, spitting on the ground.

Of course accepting defeat is hard, and admitting one’s own mistake is even harder.
But this guy just took the easiest way out, he wanted to live a life full of delusion.

A path easy and comfortable.

Alex Osborne was not a man faithful to truth and justice.
He was just an ordinary coward who simply was not able to accept defeat.

“And he said he won’t give up on Si Hoon”

It doesn’t matter if he is an ordinary coward or if he is just outright crazy.
If it were someone else, then Kang Woo would just think that this always happens in the world.
But now the situation was extremely different.
Alex tried to bring Si Hoon over to his side.
To try to make him into the same kind of lunatic as him.

“I can’t let that happen”

If he doesn’t give up on his own, then there is no other choice than to just stick a knife in his back.

Should I try looking on the bright side as well?

Kang Woo immediately remembered the earned look that Si Hoon had given Alex.
It seemed like he was a really important person to him.
He liked him so much that Kang Woo had to use the Force of Submission to make Si Hoon refuse the offer.

Apparently Alex’s influence on Si Hoon was like the influence of superheroes on children.

There is also the possibility that all the good things he had done till this point have only been done due to his desire to imitate Alex.

“I don’t like this at all” Kang Woo narrowed his eyes.

He had high expectations for Si Hoon.
He couldn’t let Alex push the guy on the path to self-destruct with his influence.

-It was time to fight.

Kang Woo thought it was time to look at Si Hoon as if he was a little child, anything could change his mental state.
He had to start taking action.
And the first thing to do was to let Si Hoon know that there were no absolute heroes.

-“Hmm… ” He closed his eyes.

TThoughts inside of Kang Woo’s head swirled with great speed, he slowly opened his eyes, he had an excellent plan.
The decision was made, and there was no reason to hesitate.
Kang WOo lifted his head.

“But First…”

There is something he needed to do before he put his plans into action.

He lightly pushed himself off the ground and liften himself into the air.
Using the power of the Observer, he looked around.

“It seemed he ran in that direction,” Kang WOo turned his head in the direction from which magic was coming from.

Unlike in Japan, where a strong energy emanated from every building, it was very different here.
By comparison, in japan, it was like looking for a needle in a haystack, but here it was like he was looking for a tree in the middle of an arid desert.

He went in the direction where the mercenary ran away from Alex.
He was heading towards a closed factory in Incheon.
It was a place that was destroyed five years ago during the appearance of monsters and had not been rebuilt since then.

“He went pretty far.”

He was practically overwhelmed by Alex, the distance to which he ran away seemed quite a lot.
The energy stopped at an abandoned building.
Kang Woo landed on the roof to examine the situation.

“The energy doesn’t seem to get any stronger.”

He didn’t sense any other energy around.
Among the Hell eachers there were also those who possessed Magic right in their hearts.
They were, of course, stronger.
But now the situation is not exactly the same.
If the guy was really strong, he would not have lost so easily to Alex.

Kang Woo breath came to a halt.
The Hell teacher was probably pretty exhausted from running away from Alex after the fight.

Kang woo clenched his fist and punched a hole in the ceiling.

-Kh!

Dush flew everywhere.
Kang Woo flexed his fingers and looked at the mercenary.

-Who are you? ..
-Shocked eyes looked at Kang Woo from under the red mask.

Such a reaction was by no means strange, because the merceneary had expected Alex to chase him, and what he got was a complete stranger.

At his question, Kang Woo did nothing but chuckle.

-And who are you?

The masked man feel silent.

-You won’t tell me that, will you? So just the same, I won’t answer your question.

The mercenary bent slightly and a strong feeling of anger start to emanate from him.

” So you’re one of the Guardians.”

He seemed to think that Kang Woo was one of the people Alex was working with.
Kang Woo just shrugged at this.

“I was going to take a different route, but you seem to know about the Guardians.”

The mercenary spread his arms wide.
They glowed and his nails turned into claws created from Magic.

-Think what you want – there is no need to tell him the truth.

After all, people will hear and see only what they want.

-You have a lot to tell me.
Kang woo said

-Do you think I’ll tell you anything?

“Of coutse not” Kang Woo said, shaking his head.

He raised his right hand and the ring on his finger started to change shape.

-Therefore…

The ring slowly transformed into a pain of combat gloves which contained the Power of the Amduscias Demon.

“Ill make you talk” Kang Woo said and pushed himself off the ground.

Using the Force of Acceleration he quickly reached the mercenary.
The eyes behind the mask were filled with fear.
The glove gripped his throat and he bent back a little.
Kang Woo pushed him against the wall, slowly raising the amount of power he spent.

The walls of the plant shook, and the reinforcement bars began to sag under Kang Woo’s massive force.

The mercenary could only flail his arms.
With a distinctive sound of metal breaking, one of the rebars snapped and the mercenary had a chance to break free.
He extended his sharp claws upward, but the attack failed.
Kang Woo, using the Power of a Thousand, caught his claws and ripped them by the roots.
They fell to the ground, and blood immediately started pouring out from the mercenary’s fingers.

Probably because of the pain that overwhelmed him, the mercenarys’ movements became slower.
Kang Woo grabbed his shoulders using the Blast Force.

-Aad!

Kang Woo squeezed his hand and immediately the sound of breaking bones could be heard.
A shriek came out from the mercenary’s mouth.

-Aaaah!! How?!

The mercenary, under the pressure from the Force, fell to the ground.
Kang Woo, having neutralized him, used the Force of Submission.
The body of the mercenary was immediately enveloped by a strong Magi.

[Your chosen Object of Subjugation has resisted]

Kang Woo clicked his tongue, showing that he didn’t like this at all.
He expected that after he using the Blast Force, which would freeze the skills of the mercenary, the use of the Power of Submission would still work.

“Well, it can’t helped.”

There is no reason to give up if one of the Powers fail.
With his glove, Kang Woo slowly grabbed the mercenaries fingers and broke them one by one.

-aHHHH! – he barely exclaimed, trying not to scream again.

But Kang WOo wasn’t going to stop there.

[Power of Hellfire]

The fires began to burn the mercenary from inside.
Kang WOo knew that this very feeling was one of the worst kind of tortures for any person.

-Ah-ah-ahhhhhhh!!! The mercenary let out a long shriek.

With this, Kang Woo recalled the Power of Hellfire.

“Well, I suppose you want to talk now, right?”

-Kh… Kh….

-Or just one more time?

-St..
Stop! Please stop! – The mercenary mumbled, unable to even think of experiencing the hellish pain again.

Kang Woo smiled contentedly and nodded his head.

“Hmm then, What should I ask first….?”

There were quite a few questions that he had.
But asking just about anything wasn’t really a good idea.

“Because he could explode at any moment, or die in some other ways.”

Based on his previous experiences, Kang WOo could tell they had some sort of mechanism in place to keep the information from being divulged.
And this time would be no exception as well.

“I can’t repeat the same mistakes again and again”

He wasn’t an idiot who never learned from his mistakes.
So first, he decided to clarify information unrelated to the Teachers.

-Tell me what you know about the Guardians.

-Why?… If you’re one of them, you know better than me… ahhh!!!!!

-Don’t ask questions and just answer.

-Kh..
KK…

Tears appeared in the mercenaries eyes from the excruciating pain.

-This is an organization created from the Defenders gathered around all over the world.
I don’t know how many there are.
But however many, their founders call themselves Gaia.

-Gaia?

-Y-y-yes

Kang Woo narrowed his eyes.

“Gaia…”

He immediately remembered the Gaia system.
Kang WOo didn’t even think it could be a coincidence, it just couldn’t be.
